Why do you guide the Dismal river?
The Dismal is Nebraska's best kept secret. It's as scenic as any river in Nebraska (it honestly gives the Niobrara a run for its money) and it sees minimal traffic every summer, making it an extremely private river. The Dismal is spring fed, so the water is very clean, unlike other Nebraska rivers.
Who guides these trips?
Sam Larson guides all Woodsong river trips. Learn more about Sam on the "Meet Sam" page
Do you outfit tanking and tubing trips on the Dismal or Middle Loop rivers?
We run guided and overnight canoeing trips, but for tanks and tubes, we recommend checking out our friends at Sandhill River Trips. They run a great operation based out of Thedford, and have many options for an enjoyable, scenic trip.
What Should I Bring On My Guided overnight canoe trip?
The sandhills have warm summer days and cool nights. We often observe drastic temperature swings, so we recommend always having a spare layer, and rain gear at your disposal. It's best to wear some type of active water sandal such as keen style sandals during your trip. For camping and bushcraft gear, please refer to the equipment list that will be provided for you.
